| Right now, my roommate May is sitting on the floor in my room. We just high-fived each other for doing nothing all day. And when we say we did nothing....it really means we did nothing. In fact, May just cooked some ramen thirty minutes ago and we ate it (she ate most of it). I have made no progress studying for my midterm this Thursday, and needless to say, neither has May.
Let me recommend you a good song. It's called Cool Night by Paul Davis. Sometimes they play it on FM 96.5 Bay Area. I first heard this song while sitting in my eye doctor's waiting room and because I couldn't really understand the lyrics then, I took a million hours trying to search for it online. Then I found it on the 96.5 website. Anyways, it's a really good and calming song, one of my favorite oldies. We're playing it on repeat right now.
So May was just trying to secretly read what I'm typing right now. EXCEPT, because her eyesight is like a million bads, she can't read my small 12 Times New Roman font even though she's wearing her million degrees glasses. I'm serious. Once, I was in the bathroom and I saw May's glasses. I was curious to see what I looked like in glasses since I've never had them. I put on the glasses and within 5 seconds I was so dizzy (the world was rotating) and I took it off. I barely got to see what I looked like in glasses. Sigh, no wonder she's scared of going to the eye doctor's.
Alright, I'm going to sleep soon. Goodnight friends.
P.S. Joan, do you like my changes?
One more thing, I just read www.mayyoulee.blogspot.com and found that we wrote almost the exact same blog. aren't we soulmates instead of roommates?
P.P.S. Joan, don't be mad.

| I realize that it's rather calming to update in the middle of the night. Usually, I'm never up this late, but for some reason when I come back to San Jose, I have a natural tendency to not sleep....or sleep very late and wake up some time past twelve noon. But, tomorrow I can't sleep in. Why? BECAUSE I'M HANGING OUT WITH MY BEST FRIEND INGRID i miss her a lot during the semester when we're both in school and we don't talk all that much. but we always see each other whenever we're at the same place.
There's not that much to do right now....except browse the Internet...which can get boring real fast seeing as I was on the computer all day to begin with. So I tried to play blockes again after a short 3 month hiatus. After multiple tries trying to mix and match my username and password, I finally logged into my account...only to find that blockles is NOT EVEN TETRIS ANYMORE. WHAT WHY. I was considerably annoyed when I saw this and wanted to tell my roommates immediately but couldn't because it's so late. They will find out soon. My beloved tetris game no longer exists sigh.
Maybe I should just go back to watching the Home Shopping Network.

| So after reading my roommate May's blog, I was inspired to write my own about what music means to me. Although it may be true for a lot of people, I honestly feel that I have a special attachment to those notes and rhythms. You know that feeling when the perfect song comes on your iPod when you're walking to class? It can really make your day. Or that one song that whenever it plays, you'll think of some past experience? That happens to me a lot. Whenever I put my headphones on when I'm stressed, or annoyed, or just angry, it relieves all the tension. It has probably saved me from doing a handful of things that I would regret for the rest of my life. I always lie on my bed and stare at the ceiling and then blast the music really loud. After awhile, things aren't so bad and it generally helps me think clearer and set my goals and priorities in order.
With that being said, my iPod contains a good 25 to 30% of my life. I always tell myself that one day this iPod will die..and when that day comes, what are you going to do? If anyone knows how to back up my iPod data, please tell me now thanks! Although I've only had the same iPod since June of 2006 (so a little more than 3 years now), all my songs of my life are stored in that machine. All the CDs I bought before those iPod days are in there . Not only that, but it includes all my music videos and chinese shows too, and even one full length chinese drama that's 30 episodes long. I remember I took forever trying to convert those videos to mp4, but it was well worth it. I never thought that I would need an iPod, so with that in mind, I became one of the last people to own one. Now, it's my most precious item. I carry it everywhere. I have my headphones in my ear so often that sometimes I forget while I'm walking or working at my desk and I wonder where that music is coming from. I think I will go crazy if I can't listen to my iPod one day, it's just that special to me.
As many of my friends know, I spend quite a lot of time listening to Chinese music. It just happens that recently, it's been all Korean, but since I can't understand the language, Chinese is still my comfort zone. I spend time closely listening to Chinese lyrics because I've found that some songs describe my feelings perfectly at that particular time. Sometimes it's like the lyricist composed that song for me and it makes me happy. One of my favorite lyricist is the lead singer from a Chinese band called Mayday (五月天). He writes all the band's songs and writes extensively for other famous singers from Taiwan. Every single word he writes has a deep meaning and many of his songs really touch me. He plays with words as if they're legos and builds sentences that just sounds so profound and out there. It's amazing if you can understand and listen to it.
I have to say that my obsession with listening to music can get a bit.....I don't know, over. I keep myself very isolated from everyone else, partly because my headphones are always on. Sometimes I think it's a bad thing, but other times, I'm very grateful because I don't like talking to people so it helps me avoid awkward situations. But this in general shouldn't stop you from talking to me, I don't mind being bothered...really.
I feel like I want to talk about many more things, but I can't find the right words to type it all out. I always think about what i would rely on if I wasn't raised with music in my ears. I hope that all the musicians and composers and lyricists out there continue to make good music to bring to people. Musical notes and melodies is truly the universal language that brings happiness to everyone and no matter what language the music is in, someone will enjoy the song.
One last thing, I believe that all music sounds better when it's played loudly while you're in the car. I don't know how safe this really is or how many people believe me, but I find that I have a higher percentage of liking a song if the first time I hear it is in a car. Anyways, try it out sometime.
It is almost 3 in the morning, goodnight.

| I'm so blessed to have a super nice 11 day break before fall semester begins. Therefore, today I sat on the ground with a laptop for the entire day, no joke. I got up maybe 5 times so far. Half the time, I'm literally doing nothing except staring at the ceiling, but it just feels so good. As the day went on, I browsed my way through Yahoo's homepage and I found an article that was really funny. It had to do with 10 annoying text habits to avoid. Number 9 on the list was called The Lingering K. Please read on.....
This one is especially aggravating if you're not on an unlimited texting plan. You get a message asking how your day went or if you'll be free at a certain time, so you send back a detailed and informative reply. Your phone dings again. You open the message and it says..."k." Do people not even have the decency to include the o? The offender doesn't even need to reply to the message. But if they feel the need to, could they not at least drum up something a little more personal/creative/not totally unnecessary?
Yes, I am unfortunately not on an unlimited texting plan so people please don't text me one or two word responses. I will get annoyed. I'll assume that you got my text already or I will call to confirm whatever it is we may be discussing. Thanks in advance.
